Why Read the Quran?
The Quran has been sent down as the word of the Ever-Living God as guidance for humanity. It is unlike any other book. When a person reads it carefully, it speaks to the heart, calls the reader to worship the Creator alone, and invites them to reflect on life, death, purpose and accountability.
The opening chapter is a supplication asking Allah for guidance: “Guide us to the straight path.” Quran 1:6. At the beginning of the next chapter, Allah says: “This is the Book about which there is no doubt, a guidance for those conscious of Allah.” Quran 2:2.
The Quran is the final revelation, sent after the earlier scriptures. It confirms the truth that came before it while also correcting what people changed over time. Allah says: “Indeed, it is We who sent down the Quran and indeed, We will be its guardian.” Quran 15:9.
Prophet Muhammad, Peace and Blessings upon him, was sent as a mercy to the worlds. The Quran calls people back to their Creator and gives the soul the guidance it needs.
