Muslims believe the Quran is the main miracle given to the Prophet Muhammad, Peace and Blessings upon him, as proof of his prophethood and as the final divine message.
The Quran is a book of divine guidance and direction for humanity. Its text remains in its original Arabic form, and Muslims believe it is the literal word of Allah revealed through the Angel Jibril.
The Quran contains 114 chapters, known as Surahs, of varying lengths. These chapters are classed as Makkan or Madinan depending on the period of revelation. Each Surah is made up of verses known as Ayat, meaning signs.
